Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th in 1991. She is an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In October 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her EP Pho. It was here that she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her songs online in 2012 when she released the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued to post her songs online, as well as her own single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then was interested in having her create Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. The official signing ceremony was held with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was a track she co-wrote with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. She released Pho, her debut EP, on Oct 21, 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer for J. Cole on his single Change in 2017. She also was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. The singer also performed in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. A music video followed by a music video in September. On the 9th of November she dropped two more singles: forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. She then released on the 13th of November two singles called The No One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, the 26th of February, 2019, for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured alongside Cole as part of The Creed II sound track on November 16. The song, released with a video uploaded to YouTube February 20, 2019 has been viewed over three million times over the first seven days. She was the supporting act for 6LACK in their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
