Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th in 1991. She is an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In October 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her EP Pho. It was here that she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her songs online in 2012 when she released the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued to post her songs online, as well as her own single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then was interested in having her create Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs.
